Commonly asked Questions, myths & misconceptions

  • What is trance state during hypnosis?

    'Trance state' is a level of deep relaxation and focused attention to enable reduced awareness of distraction directly around us.

    Have you ever been staring out the window deep in thought and suddenly ten minutes raced by and you were in a complete day dream?

    Or, you’ve been watching a movie or reading a great book, and you’ve become so captivated by the story you see it clearly in your mind and all your senses and emotions are  so heightened you feel like you’re almost there, and your oblivious to everything else around you?

    How about when you’ve been driving and suddenly you arrive at your destination and feel like you can’t even remember the journey…well that is focused attention, being in a trance like state. Now you know that while you were driving you were fully aware of what your doing and would absolutely respond if an emergency situation arose;

    … you were experiencing a state of focused attention.

    So in hypnosis that is trance state your attention is focused so we can access the unconscious part of your brain where your habits, thoughts, feelings, patterns and belief systems reside.
